SLECG VOLUNTEERS PROJECT

Voluntary organisations like SLECG are continually dependent on the good will of people volunteering their spare time.

SLECG have always involved volunteers in any project they have set up, and this has been invaluable in helping the organisation grow and develop.

Volunteers have found that volunteering with SLECG is extremely rewarding, and not only that, it has helped them to gain experience and specific skills that have enabled them to go on to find paid employment.

Misbah began as a volunteer with SLECG, and is now an employee.

"I became interested in volunteering after being unemployed for a year. I was interested in administration but I lacked sufficient skills needed to find paid employment. I chose SLECG for various reasons, the most important being the opportunity to put something back into my community. As well as gaining administrative skills, I also found job satisfaction and self worth, which would only have been possible working for an organisation like SLECG."
